Bracks outlines legislative agenda for autumn session
Premier STEVE BRACKS says reforms to Victoria's upper house will head a busy legislativeagenda for the upcoming session of state parliament.
Mr BRACKS yesterday outlined his government's priorities for the autumn session, sayingmore than 50 bills will be introduced.
He says legislation on proportional representation to the upper house and fixed four-yearterms in both houses will be introduced in the first days after parliament resumes onFebruary 25.
Other major bills include new anti-terrorism laws, moves to trial a system of homedetention of prisoners, and legislation requiring regular reporting on the state of theenvironment.
Mr BRACKS says industrial reforms giving low-paid workers access to federal awardswill also be introduced.
The premier has outlined the legislative agenda ahead of a two-day seminar of LaborMPs, to be held in the north-east town of Beechworth on Monday and Tuesday.
